Does not fully perform as described

I installed a set of these on my workbench, with two fixed casters on one end and two double locking swivel casters on the other. After a few years of use two of them have flat spots; the red poly on one has cracked; and the red poly on the other split and fell off, making it no longer usable.

    Best caster on the market

I have used these casters for years on tools and cabinets weighing up to 600lb's and they never have any flat spots.

    Highly Recommended

I have a relatively small shop and need to be able to move my tools around and out of the way as I use them. I put these on my wood lathe, and although my friends thought I was crazy, they work very well. The locks are sturdy and keep the lathe from hopping or moving while in use. The wheels grip well enough to keep the tool in place, and move smoothly over somewhat rough surfaces (if I move tools onto aggregate driveway, etc.) I've since put these casters on several other tools and am here on the website today looking for yet another set. Highly recommended to anyone with limited space and lots of tools. Getting them on sale just sweetens the pot. :)

    Absolute StabilityPossible?

Although these casters have a good locking methodology, they must be carefully turned to gain a good locking(both turning and forward movement). When using these casters we needed such an absolute locking device on all four wheels for moving and steadying a heavy machine. And this machine must be absolute stationary when operational, so this type of locking is mandatory.

    solid casters

These seemed to be a reasonable price on sale. They are in place holding up my router cart. All of my tools are on casters. It is too early to comment on durability, though they seem solid and well constructed. I will likely buy more next time they are on sale. Their swivel is a bit stiff but that is likely weather related as my studio is pretty cold right now. I prefer the polyurethane tires on the wood floor of the studio. They do not work well on concrete floors (other manufacturers). It would be comforting if it were possible to purchase replacement wheels for these through woodcraft. All caster wheels have finite life spans and these wheels would be replaceable if available. Four stars instead of 5 only because I am not sure about durability or availability of replacement wheels.

    Very Strong, Quality-built Casters

Although these casters are a little on the pricey side, they are the best you can get without a huge rise in price. I recently put 4 of them through an ultimate test. I bought a 1850 lb jointer that needed to be wheeled 50 feet on concrete into my workshop. I asked the Woodcraft salesman if they had anything rated for more weight. He said no, but suggested that they'd probably work fine for my purpose. He wouldn't guarantee then (obviously) since I would be exceeding their max load by more than 50%, but I decided to give them a go. I was fully expecting them to be destroyed by the time I got the jointer in place. However, I was surprised to see that they held up fine. In fact, I've since used the 4 casters to move a 2000 lb lathe, and a 1600 lb planer. They roll smooth even when overloaded, and swivel very smooth properly loaded, and remarkably well when overloaded. I don't recommend you overload these things as a general practice, but it's nice to know that they've got the strength and quality to withstand a lot of abuse. I will be buying more of these to mobilize a lot of my tools and carts.

    Castors

I use these castors on a Jet mini lathe stand. It allows me to move it around and then lock the wheels.

    Not impressed...

Works great except the red part of the wheel is similar to a retread on a tire. Works the same way, after a year or two, it will separate from the black part of the wheel requiring replacement of the wheel. 3 out of 4 have exhibited this characteristic.

    These casters are awesome.

I have used a variety of the Woodcraft casters and they are fantastic. Pricey? I guess they are, but they are simply the best. From a work table for my wife to power tool carts in my shop (planer, router table, bench sander, drill press) they perform perfectly. The locking mechanism is truly a lock and my carts do not budge when I lock the casters down - even with a 13" planer churning through boards.

    Best Locking Roller Casters

These are the best Locking Roller Caster on the market. I am a professional stage illusionist and I use these for all my stage illusions. These casters are perfect in every way. They are strong, durable and roll perfectly smooth. I have tried every brand of caster on the market, but these are my favorite.

Now they roll, now they don't!

These casters are of high quality and when locked, they don't move. The dual lock prevents them from rolling or rotating. Mounted them on workbench in my shop as it is also my garage and all items must be moveable. Make sure you get the right mounting. I ordered this with a shaft but exchanged them at the store for the plate type mount I needed. Great products[...]
