Because of the waiting time,  air-drying your own lumber  may not meet the needs of woodworkers who want to go to their hardwoods supplier and exit with a stack of project-ready boards. On the other hand,  you may find the process both cost-effective and fun. In fact, air-drying is something every practical woodworker should consider when that big oak, walnut, or maple tree keels over in the yard, and the tree guy asks what you’d like done with the wood. Rather than watch the logs being reduced to firewood and mulch, a woodworker can save big by having the wood slabbed and then drying it himself. Understanding the pros, cons, and costs of air-drying can make the effort worthwhile for woodworkers lucky enough to hook up with a local sawyer.

    I like my Anchorseal

I am using the product to seal a number of fresh cut hard woods which I will let slowly dry outdoors under cover. These pieces will be used for making a number of different wood turning projects.

    Best sealer I've ever used.

As a turner, I use only standing dead natural cured wood. Anchor Seal 2 prevents end grain checks on rough cut wood. It applies evenly and is superior to other sealers I've tried.

Thus far I am very happy and satisfied.

Due to the tornado that came only a couple of days after this shipment arrived, the Anchoeseal 2 has been put to use as we salvaged good pieces of turning wood out of the debris. I had started to order from another company but chose you because of the difference in shipping costs. I am very happy with my decision.

    Better than most!

Apply liberal coat to ends of fresh cut logs to retain moisture and prevent checking.

    sawmill owner

i own a portable sawmill and a chainsaw mill capable of cutting 6 foot wide slabs. i've experimented with this sealer over the years and it does make a big difference in checking. i seal the end of the log as soon as possible after felling the tree. i typically cut 2", 3", 4" thick slabs it has almost no checking at all, on slabs of the same log that i didn't apply it to the ends, i had 6" to 10" checks on each end. that's a lot of wasted wood. a gallon goes a long way. i use a cheap paint brush and bottom off a plastic bottle to pour it into and apply it. never rinse the brush out, just let it dry. when i use it again, it quickly becomes soft and like new again.

    It really works

I cut pieces of green lumber from 4" in Dia up to 6" in Dia to about 1 to 3inches thick & use them for bottoms for my gourd vases. Works great as the wood does not check.

    Nothing better

I use Anchorseal on the end grain of green wood I cut for turning blanks and stack to dry. It drips. You can put down paper or scrape it off the floor after it dries. My floor is concrete so I scrape.

    Lives up to it's reputation

You can still see the endgrain while being sure the wood is sealed well. You can sure tell there's wax in it!

    Easy to use, excellent performance

This product does a great job of sealing green wood for drying in preparation for turning or to reduce the chance of splitting between first and second turning of green wood bowls.

    Anchorseal 2

I haven't used it long enough to tell if it works as well as anchorseal 1, but it paints on easier. I am assuming that since it's version 2 it's an improvement over 1, but only time will tell. I had an issue with the can arriving dented and Woodcraft took care of it wonderfully. Way beyond my expectations.
