Description: This is a great beginner class for woodworking. You will use the table saw, joiner and planer to mill lumber. A tapering Jig will be used to tapper the legs and add some style and elegance to the table. The table saw is used to cut the aprons and floating supports. Then you will use the band saw to cut the raised portions to add the appearance of the floating top. Milled stock will be used to prepare, assemble and glue the panel top. Pocket holes and dowels will be used for final assembly. The final finish will be yours to stain and poly coat at home.

No machines or motors to distract your focus from that preciuos piece of cherry or walnut.We will briefly discuss the history of hand planes. Go to the types of planes and the use of each type. Some general tips will be offered when buying, setting up, using and caring for a plane. Then go into more detail by disassembling the plane, pointing out the parts and functions. Then do some sharpening and discuss sharpening materials. After we get a good sharp iron, we will practice using the hand plane by edge joining and surfacing and learn to read the grain. as time permits, we will use some special planes to see their applications. if you have planes, bring them in to use or use ours. join us in the quiet work shop to use the hand plane and make some wood shavings.
