Almost perfect for Sjobergs elite benches!

One of my biggest hangups in deciding to buy a sjobergs elite was the 1” dog holes and the lack of available accessories for them. After searching for traditional holdfasts for it and coming up with only boutique hand-forged holdfasts for a hand-forged price, this holdfast made its way to me. At first, it didn’t hold well in the holes at all. After stripping the paint on the main shaft and roughing it up, it has worked great! Further tuning has included mellowing out the seams/edges on the head so it doesn’t eat up my mallet, and slightly reprofiling the angle of the contact head as it dug into the workpiece before hand. I’m guessing that this is due to the angle of attack being slightly different in a 1” hole vs. the spec’d 7/8”. All in all, a great alternative to boutique holdfasts that can run $100 more or better.

I don't know how I got along without it

I use the hold fast with my work bench for chisel work or to hold work to saw or pllane
