The Microjig® GRR-Ripper is a revolutionary, universal pushing jig for all table saw, router table and jointer users. This is the first tool that grips and holds both sides of work piece during a ripping operation. Unlike a push stick or push block, the Gripper maintains balanced pressure on a work piece as it passes through and beyond the blade. Maintains a parallel, forward direction with the blade while keeping pressure against your rip fence to prevent burning. Eliminates the need to feed stock with your bare hands providing 100% protection. You can cut strips as thin as 1/4" without any special setup so there is no need to throw away those small scrap pieces. The unit can be offset to accommodate small, irregular shaped, pieces on the router table.

The GR-200 model boasts all of the same innovative features of the GR-100, but it comes with two additional accessories the Adjustable Spacer and the Stabilizing Plate. Combined these accessories improve the control and expandability of the GRR-Ripper System. The Adjustable Spacer adds increased gripping surface for tackling larger stock. It also adds one inch of cutting width to the GRR-Ripper and acts as a secondary balance support for small stock and straight-line ripping. The Stabilizing Plate improves control of the GRR-Ripper when cutting small narrow pieces of stock. Perfect for trickier cuts like resawing, bevel edging, pattern routing, and much more. The Stabilizing Plate also acts as a secondary fence that travels with the GRR-Ripper along the left side of the stock. It holds the off-cut piece in its original position through the entire cutting operation.

Features:

  • Eliminates the need to feed stock with your bare hands
  • Universal pushing jig for all table saw, router table, and jointer users
  • Holds both sides of work piece during a ripping operation
  • Includes the Adjustable Spacer and Stabilizing Plate
What's Included:
  • (1) Micro Jig GRR-Ripper Advanced 3D Pushblock
  • (2) Side Legs (1/4" and 1/2")
  • (1) Adustable Center Leg
  • (1) Adjustable 1" fence-side space
  • (1) Stabilizing Accessory Plate with Balance Support
  • (1) Comprehensive Users Manual

Christmastime is one of those perfect times of the year to make someone a special handmade gift.  So I took to the shop after Thanksgiving, stepping away from my lathe and decided to do something different.  With my daughter Maddy’s growing interest in baking, I decided to make her a heirloom Recipe Box as a Christmas gift.  I purchased a Bubinga board about 6 ft.in length x 11″ wide x 3/4″ thick from Woodcraft.  It had such beautiful figured grain and sort of a pink-brown color to it, perfect for my 16 year old.  It has been a number of years (about 35!) since I’ve done any flat work, back in my Boardman High School days in Ohio, learning under the tutelage of Mr. Haug, my woodshop instructor.

Now here is a very cool tool called The GRR-Ripper, with a lot of safety factors considered into it’s engineering. This brilliant idea from Micro Jig does away with blade contact problems and kickback, protecting the woodworker from possible injury, while allowing for different types of cuts that normally would not be able to be done safely without this device. It is versatile, as it can be used on a table saw, router, band saw, and other machines. No woodworker should be without this tool!

Forrestblades

The newest blade from Forrest Manufacturing is the 10″ Ply Veneer Worker with 70 Teeth, and is specifically designed to work with man-made materials in the plywood, vinyl clad, composite and veneer arena. Each tip is made from super hard, long life micro-grain carbide, and the ATB (35° Alternate Top Bevel) produces the smoothest cut ever seen in a hand-straightened saw blade. The 10° face hook allows for easier feed on table saws, and sides are chamfered to eliminate heat buildup and chip clearing. This thin (3/32″) kerf blade is 10″ in diameter and has a 5/8″ arbor. This blade is also available in standard (1/8″) kerf. For use on table saws and saws with slides. Made in the USA.

Great product, my go-to table saw and router tool. Also GREAT customer service from MICROJIG.

The Gripper is a great addition to any workshop that has a table saw, router, jointer - almost any power tool where your hands could get near the cutters. I do a lot of cutting of 'small' pieces on my table saw - to build boxes, small projects, smaller cabinets, cut blanks for pen turning, toys, Christmas ornaments - lots. The Gripper is the _only_ way I would consider doing a lot of cuts as it lets you handle smaller parts, work with the fence close to the blade, and similar situations. The Gripper is all plastic, but it is very (very!) sturdy - and lightweight. I believe the plastic they have chosen is just the right combination of lightness and toughness. Some have remarked on the Gripper not being 'grippy' enough. I have not had that problem. If you work with woods (or metal) that is slippery in some way (oily, waxed, etc) you need to take extra care - but that's true in general for such things. I have an old squeeze-type glue bottle that I keep full of alcohol. I use it for cleaning the Gripper's green 'tracks' that provide the grip (the alcohol is useful for lots of other tasks, too). As a result, no issues with the grippiness in my case. It is my first choice for doing most cuts - and I have a fine collection of 'push blocks', both homemade and purchased. None of them can do what the Gripper can, and do so SAFELY! Setting up the Gripper is quick thanks to the 'built-in' screws that never get lost - they are held onto the attachments so they are always right there, ready to use. Be sure to watch the MICROJIG you-tube videos - they show a wide variety of cuts and setups that you can do/use. I learned a lot from them, and it made my Gripper that much more useful. CUSTOMER SERVICE with MICROJIG has been exceptional. I had ordered some extra parts from them (extra legs - I have twice shaved a piece of one of the legs off - not so much that it made the leg unusable, I just want all the gripping power I can get). The order got confused - it had to be shipped in 2 parts, and one shipment apparently fell through the cracks. I used their email customer service and got immediate responses (within a day or less). There was still some confusion, but after working with them through several emails i received everything just fine. I have not had a better experience dealing with any vendor - there is a responsive and responsible person on the other end of the emails! (Wow!) RECOMMENDED product, RECOMMENDED vendor.

    Over-Priced and Over-Hyped Pushblock

Not much "revolutionary" about this articulating block of bright plastic. I am also concerned that novices would be tempted to remove saw safety devices in reliance upon this push block. As a woodworker for over 30 years, I suggest using sacrificial stock to accomplish similar, smaller scale tasks utilizing saw safety devices whenever possible.

    Great idea and build quality.

I've owned this jig for a few years and like it for the most part. My issue with it is that the "stickiness" of the green bottom material didn't last very long and isn't very effective on tight grained, smooth hardwoods. The design is excellent otherwise.

    Great Product, poor Quality Control

I haven't had a chance to use this yet because I couldn't finish assembling it. One of the brass inserts for the leg is protruding from the plastic housing so the leg won't sit flush. This is critical as the push block won't either sit flush against the fence or be perpendicular to the work surface when cutting. It was nice to see that the product is made in the US, sad to see that such an easily detectible defect was not caught. However, this push block does boast all the features that you see online or in the videos. The bottom surface is very sticky for gripping your work piece. I can't wait to be able to swap this one out for a new one, hopefully I won't run into the same problem. I will update this post when the new one comes in.

    Excellent product!

Having read much about the GRR-Ripper, I finally decided to purchase one and try it. The product lives up to all its positive reviews--well designed, versatile, and very cool that it's actually made in the U.S. I use it at the table saw, where I'm making clean and precise cuts on small workpieces like never before. Highly recommended.

Wish I would have bought this sooner!

I am very impressed with this jig. It took a few minutes to assemble but after that I was ripping thin stock in no time. I felt very comfortable ripping stock so thin that I never would have considered trying the cut before this jig.

    Safety Last?

This is a solid and well made, well thought out table saw accessory that offers more control and stability than any push stick or block. You could perform thin rip cuts with small stock that would be impossible with a push pad and unnerving with any other push stick design. Most importantly, it keeps your hands safe. The only trade off is the extra set-up/ adjustment time to avoid damaging one of the Gripper's legs, but nothing that would keep you from using it whenever possible.

    Works great

I safely ripped 1/8" off a short board (maybe ten inches long) I would never have tried cutting without this device. Making such a cut would have simply been too dangerous. Once I install a zero clearance insert in my table saw, the gripper will enable me to make repeating narrow rip cuts without having to adjust the rip fence.

    Gripper ---- A good idea

This tool works great if you are ripping up to 3" wide boards on your table saw for the blade to pass under the gripper. I like the fact when ripping down narrow boards, it does safe my fingers from the blade. This tool is worth buying.

    Amazing tool

I use the gripper mainly on the table saw. Doing restoration work I frequently need to make small, hard to cut pieces. The gripper is so simple to use I can't believe know one has thought of this before. Once I started using it all of my push sticks and featherboards seemed rather inadequate and when properly set up it feels much safer than either of them. You are in complete control of the cut.

    Awsome product!

Great for ripping those narrow cuts on my table saw. To use 2 of them (as recommended in thier video)for long ripping is a little cumbersome, maybe even a little risky for kickback. The grippers do a great job of holding your material.

Until I purchased the GRRRipper system there was always a risk for injury whenever using the router or the table saw. The GRRRipper system keeps my most important tools safe 100% of the time. I bought two, the advanced and the basic so that I can rip longer pieces of lumber. Glad to see that the GRRRippers are also made in the USA! 100% worth it

Like many of you I am sure, I've seen tons of "fad" jigs that look really useful but in reality serve little purpose or actually complicate things further. Also like many I've been lured in to purchasing said jigs. This is not one of those. This is the single best safety aid I own and have ever seen. This is a very well thought out, well constructed, and useful device. More so, it is easy to use. I also feel the price is extremely fair since there is no competition at all. I commend the manufacturer for not gouging our wallets, even though with this device, they easily could. This will not be joining my collection of "toy" jigs in the bottom shelf wasteland on my roll-away. I have since ordered another and would not consider using my table saw or router table without it. I do however prefer a traditional push block on the jointer though. This positions my hands a little higher than I am comfortable with.

    Safety with accuracy

I bought 2 of these & have continually added to their uses. To be able to put downward & side pressure plus pushing the end of stock gives me great accuracy when ripping & resawing. I'm able to cut parts I wasn't able to cut before with less than .005 variation in width or thickness on a Bosch portable saw. It's not hard to leap frog them for longer pieces. There is a learning curve to getting the most out of them, but it's worth it. The safety aspect is immeasurable, I hate to cut without them. I'll probably get the connector bridge & 1/8" leg in the future. I bought them in the Norwalk CT store & would buy them again.

    Not Worth the Money

After trying the Grr-Ripper on several cuts, I decided it was too time consuming to adjust everytime I wanted to use it. Most of my ripping is on long boards, and even with two Grr-Rippers, I found them very awkward and cumbersome. A good splitter and push stick work much better for me.

    Gives confidence, safety, and accuracy.

This gripper has replaced my push sticks and has lessened the use of feather boards. I use the gripper on the router table more than any other holding/push device and it produces excellent results as it has such a strong hold/grip on the work piece which significantly lessens the slippage/snipe factor.

Makes me feel safe working around my TS

Got this in the mail and watched the videos on YouTube to help assemble, pretty straight forward. First use was to rip edging for the front of a plywood project, worked great. Felt safe for the first time using my Table Saw w/o the blade guard. Kept control of both pieces throughout the entire cut. Just remember to check the position of the center leg relative to the blade so you don't cut the pad or the leg (almost made that mistake..just barely skimmed the edge..disaster avoided by shear luck LOL) Definitely recommend this product.

This tools truly adds safety to table saw cuts that are otherwise too risky or too difficult to accomplish. Overpriced pushstick

I watched the video on this and thought it was a great safety device. I find that it really doesn't grip that well and doesn't really hold the piece against the fence as well as feeding forward the way they say. You have to really watch that the blade falls inside the "tunnel" of the gripper, and yet this is hard to see. You really need two grippers because you have to release it and move it back for any board of over say 2' long. I almost returned it although I think I've waited too long. Time will tell if it will be of big help cutting small pieces, which was why I primarily thought I needed it. Overall I think it is really overpriced. For the price they could have at least thrown in the video on all it's supposedly different uses. I tend to forget I have it since it isn't that useful and just cut my pieces as I normally did.

    A great product

Henry (the designer) came frequently to the Orlando Woodcraft store with many updated versions before this finally went into production. He put a great deal of thought about safety as it progressed into what it is today. I was lucky enough to be given one to try out and couldn't believe how such a simple design became something I use often in my shop. Henry even gave me updated parts when he made it even better. Most Excellent Safety Device

I will not use my table saw to rip any boards without using this device. Kickbacks are a thing of the past and one's fingers and hand are well out of the path of the blade. Cutting thin (.125") strips is very safe and easy to do with all types of woods.

Finally! Put the Steel Gloves Away.

Finally, someone has come along and made a device that allows a piece of wood to travel through the saw blade and along the fence safely - even at 1/8". I make scales for Straight Razors and need to cut exotic woods down to 1/8" slabs. Getting the last piece out of 6" piece has sometimes turned into a nightmare. Since I purchased the GRR-Ripper, I have not had any problems cutting small widths or pieces yet. This tool just makes using your table saw much safer. The only problem I can see with this tool is you can't help but want to own two of them.

I do not use a saw guard on my table saw, and from what I have seen, pros and amateurs alike do the same. The Grr-Ripper has now given the table saw a high safety factor. Whilst not complacent about the saw's inherent dangers, I do feel much safer and more confident in using it. I have other varieties of push sticks and featherboards, but this wins hands down. Very highly recommended, in fact I just bought a second one for longer boards.

I bought one of these a few years ago. Every time i do anything more than a simple cut, i use this tool. It is completely adjustable and adaptable, you can reconfigure it for everything you need to do. It keeps your hands and fingers well away from the blade. You can push the wood with your hand right over the blade and keep the wood tight down to the table in complete safety. Great for angles and bevels. My Grandfather who taught me a lot about wood working and tools would have loved this device, especially since he lost two digits on two fingers by using a push stick. I recommend getting two of them...for cutting longer stock. Also, I can keep one at the table saw and router table

    Great safety tool

Great tool. Feels sound while using it on the table saw. The only problem I had is that doesn't grip well on some surfaces and that is why i am giving it 4 stars.

Grr - Ripper - SAFE, Easy, Quick

After I had used it a couple of times I asked why didn't someone think of this before - makes sense. Safe, easy to use, faster set up, - I really like it.

    Neat addition to my shop

Once I discovered this "gadget" I had it in my "wish list" for a couple months before I ordered it. Seemed like a lot of money for an elaborate push-stick but now that I have it my fears of close cutting on the table saw are gone. You must take the time to really read the instructions and FULLY understand where the blade is, but once you do it works better than ANY push stick. I make a lot of smaller items for gifts and being able to cut thin strips is really helpful or when the cut just "seems" a little risky.
