This turned out to be useful for me!

This hose splice turned out to be good for plugging into a few other items. It fits loosely into PVC pipe (the non-pressure bearing pipe, DWV), sometime a bit better than loose. It also fit quite nicely into a 4" DWV elbow, on the small end, which usually goes inside the PVC pipe. This makes a pretty nice quick connect. I also found I could use one of those rubber and hose clamp join pieces on my bandsaw outlet, leaving half hanging off the port. Then I could tighten the hose clamp on that half so that this splice would fit inside very nicely. So far, I have not used it to splice together the 4" clear hose. It is a bit tedious putting the hose onto it, but it works ok. I give it 4 stars because it turned out to be useful, unlike nearly every other fitting I bought. I took off a star because of the general frustration of using these sorts of fittings.

It wasn't what I thought it was

This is for connecting two hoses together and it was so difficult to do that I will not buy anymore of these. Once on it works pretty well and so far hasn't come apart.

    Quick Change

I love the quick connection for the dust collector. When you have a small shop and one dust collector, it is nice to be able to change the hoses quickly. This works when I need to use more than one hose.

Does what it is intended to do

This 4" male to male connector has no flaws. It does what it is supposed to do. My only gripe is cost. [$] for a few ounces of plastic molded into a single piece seems a bit much to me. I could sand-cast these out of scrap aluminun for less than [$].

It works for what it's intended for

I use these to connect the larger machine's in my shop to the dust collection system.
