Description: Did you recently start using Carbide tipped woodturning tools? Or have you been using them for a while and want to get better results? If so, this class is made for you. This hands on class will take students through proper use of their carbide woodturning tools. Topics that will be covered in class: proper tool rest set up, proper approach and angle for efficient cutting, differences between the three different cutters (rougher, finisher and detail), scraping, shear cutting and sharpening. Students will turn a bowl in this class. Students are encouraged, although not required, to bring their own tools for an easier transition of skills from class to your own shop.

CLS129- Turning A Lidded Box On The Lathe with Kevin Bedgood

Class Size: 4
Description: Students will start by learning about proper proportions. Then you will mount a blank in the chuck, rough out the blank and begin hollowing the end grain. Students will then make a lidded box by hollowing the box and lid, fitting them together, and turning away the mounting tenons. Safety is emphasized while students sharpen the bowl gouge and scraper, mount the wood, and make the end grain hollowing cuts. After this class, students should be able to make a lidded box on their own. If you have turning tools, you are encouraged to bring them- if not, we have tools available.

CLS958 - Epoxy River Table with Wendell Hoover

Sunday, May 1, 1 PM - 5 PM

Class Size: 4
Description: In this two part class, students will be introduced to the process of making an epoxy river table, including mold construction, slab preparation, and epoxy pouring. Several different epoxy options will be discussed, along with dye and dust coloring. In part one, students will build the mold, cut and treat the slab, and pour the river. The date and time for the second class will be determined at the end of the first class. In part two, students will be instructed on how to prepare their river table for an epoxy top coat using several power tools such as the table saw, jointer, various sanders, and router table. After preparing, the top coat will be poured and projects would be ready for pickup in about a day.
