    Nice scoop

Great scoop with beveled edges. Heavy duty. Kit should include threaded insert to make a wooden handle removeable for dishwasher. I put two in mine for the nice long 3/8 threaded section. Pizza cutter kits include inserts. 5 stars otherwise.

    Beautiful Stainless Steel Design

A very easy project for a beginning level woodturner. Good way to use up some scraps-laminated or solid. Although the shaft is threaded I don't tap the hole, as someone had suggested, so that the wood figure can be oriented as desired relative to the scoop front. Epoxy works well with a poly finish to protect against water. Nice to have a quantity discount-$1.40/scoop, but it would be even nicer for larger quantities-say 20 or more, to get more of a discount.

    Sturday and Beautiful

This is an excellent ice cream scoop. The 304 stainless steel is strong, highly brushed, non corrosive, and the hawk bill cuts through well. I turned handles from black acetal plastic rod and tapped the handle, to allow me to screw and glue the handle in place. It won't break, it won't unscrew, and it is 100% dishwasher safe. And black acetal shines up very nicely. This scoop will last me forever.

    Solid Quality

Beautiful, solid, well made stainless steel with great fitting components. Turned the handles from a gorgeous chunk of olive wood with lots of curves to show off the grain and finished with linseed oil/turpentine. Hint: use a tight grained hardwood for the handles. Ordering 2 more (after the first four); nice Christmas presents!

    Great project for the lathe!

Liked it all, this was my first scoop, loved the price. A very heavy duty scoop, should last forever! A very nice ego building project for the lathe.

I've been looking for a scoop this good!

I'm a bit of an ice cream nut and have never found an ice cream scoop that met my needs. The aluminum ones corrode, even if chrome plated. All of the other stainless steel scoops were stamped out of sheet metal and were too flimsy. This one is built like a tank and with a handle turned from white oak, will NEVER break!

    Great addition to my kitchen.

I love stainless steel kitchen ware. Add that with wood and you got the best of both worlds. Simple but nice. One small thing, would have liked to see a metal tube with inside threads to glue into the wood handle added to the kit.

Great quality. I would buy again.

This is a good looking product. I like that the shaft is threaded. Comments about competitor ice cream scoops complained that they had a smooth shaft, so it was hard for the glue to hold. The directions say to drill a 3/8" hole and use epoxy glue, but I drilled a 5/16" hole and then used a 3/8"-16 tpi tap so screwed in the scoop to the handle which worked fine.

    Christmas Gifts

I bought these kits to use to turn gifts for my family for Christmas this year. I have not started that process yet so I do not have any basis for a more detailed review. I would not have ordered so many if I did not think they would be a nice gift and very useful.
