Details

The WoodRiver Ultimate Cabinetmaker’s Kit includes the three planes cabinetmakers prefer: the WoodRiver V3 #4 plane for smoothing, the WoodRiver V3 #6 Foreplane for joining work, and the WoodRiver Low Angle Block Plane for trimming end grain and doing on the spot trimming. WoodRiver V3 Bench Planes are based on the classic, time-tested Bedrock design. The original Bedrock Planes have proven to be among the most enduring, collectable tools in all of woodworking, and for good reason—they work. WoodRiver V3s are their modern equivalent. Although not faithful reproductions, they are inspired interpretations of these classics. The Ultimate V3 Set includes four planes—#4, #5 and #6—each featuring heavy stress relieved ductile iron castings, precise machining and extra thick plane blades. Our WoodRiver Low Angle Block Plane traces its ancestry back to Stanley’s #65 and #18, utilizing the classic knuckle lever cap design, but making improvements where necessary for strength and improved function. The resulting tools offer extraordinary performance and unsurpassed value.

Features:
  • Set includes WoodRiver V3 #4, V3 #6 & Low Angle Block Plane

  • Affordable performance heirloom quality

  • Substantial savings

    Wonderful tools!

If youre lookin for pro-quality,..for a little less $$ upfront than ultra-quality,...these are the way to go I own planes of every known brand,.these are heirloom quality They require some tuning out of the box if you really expect pro results,...but you could equally take that No. 5 Woodriver Jackplane out of the box and use it straight away for roughing work out right away I have several Woodriver planes,..most arrived to me in working order,...only one of 6 planes required to have the sole flattened as you would for an antique Stanley Id have given these a 5-star rating,..however,..that'd have left no room for rating ultra-premium brands You wont be dissapointed I reach for my Woodriver No 3 and No 5 handplanes constantly,.over all the cool ones in my shop space

    Great Set of Planes!

These are beautiful hand planes. The materials and workmanship are first class. The ductile iron used in the main body of these planes is flawless on my set. The Bubinga tote and knob are beautifully crafted. The sole's are flat and square to the sides. These hand planes are MUCH heavier than their venerable antique cousins. IMO the extra weight makes them easier to control and a joy to use. Mine were ALMOST ready to use right out of the box. The mouth of the #4 and #6 were a little ragged and needed to be smoothed out with a file. That took about five minutes each. The blades require flattening, honing and polishing but so do the super premium brands so that is not an issue. The chip breaker (on my) #4 and #6 mated to the back of the cutting iron perfectly - no day light at the point of contact. That was not my experience with a well known manufacturer of replacement irons/breakers for our antique Stanley planes. At the current price these planes are an outstanding value and will serve you well for the rest of your life and generations to come. Woodworking is a hobby for me. I work out of a small basement shop. I've owned my set for over four years. There is hardly a week that goes by where I do not use at least one of these hand planes for a project or home repair.
